Show your support for new routing in Squamish!

Fellow climber,

Have you ever climbed at the Commonweatlh in Murrin Park? How about sport climbed at the Playground, or Fern Hill or even climbed the classic multipitch Sunset Strip on the Chief. These are merely a few examples of new routes and crags that have been created in the last few years. To keep that progress going I am establishing a Gofundme account to help offset the cost of hardware that is borne by the route developer in the Sea to Sky corridor. Over the last number of years over 500 pitches have been established in the Sea to Sky corridor. From independent new lines to entirely new crags, thousands of hours have been put in by the route developer to create these routes. This involves trail work, cleaning the route and adding bolts and anchors if necessary. While the hours put in only cost time and energy, the cost of hardware is straight out of one's pocket. Currently, a bolt and hanger cost around $3.50, that's if purchased in bulk. Anchors, can range from $15 to $25 depending on the setup. Therefore a 10 bolt sport pitch can be at least $50. Not to mention the $1000 cordless hammer drill needed to install the bolts. Over the years the climbing public has asked route developers how they can help and the best way is with the almighty dollar! So it's time to ask the climbing community to chip in and help fund the routes they enjoy.

OBJECTIVE
The objective of this fund is to raise up to $3500 to offset the purchase of bolts, hangers and anchors for ongoing development of routes and entire crags that span the entire grade spectrum from 5.6 to 5.13, trad and sport.  1000 bolts have already been purchased and we would like to buy 1000 hangers as well as anchors.

CREDIBILITY
The route developers that would intially access the fund have put up crags within a broad range of grades and styles such as: Commonwealth, Playground, Cat Lake, Neverland, Sanctuary, Courtyard, Paradise,
Sanitarium, Garden of Gethsemane, Fern Hill,Trestle, Pilot's Lounge, Forgotten Wall,Valley of Lost Tribes, Altamont, Quercus,Down among the Cedars, Rainbows and Unicorns,Top Shelf, Longhouse, New Delhi Cliff as well as routes on the Chief like Sunset Strip and Long Time No See, plus numerous other independant lines scattered throughought the corridor. There also new crags and routes being developed right now.  The people behind these new lines are: Tess Egan, Jack Fieldhouse, Jason Green, Eric Hughes, Colin Moorhead, Rob Richard, Jason Robertson, Chris Singer, Chris Small, Stu Smith, Harry Young, Kris Wild, Peter Winter, amongst others.

Any donation is appreciated and comments or suggestions to improve this fund are welcome.
With your support the development will continue which means more routes and crags, covering a full range of grades and styles, for you to enjoy.

Update: June 2020

As of June 2020, over $13,000 has been donated to the fund and spent on bolts, hangers, and anchors for new rock climbs in the Sea To Sky.

Some of the major developments that have been funded by the Go Fund Me include: Electric Avenue, Rock of Ages, NeverLand, Splitsville, New Delhi Cliff, Paradise Valley crags and many more.

The fund has supported 30+ route developers, and created 100+ pitches. A lot of this development over the last couple of years will be included in the upcoming new edition of Squamish Select (June 2020, Quickdraw Publications).

This website has been created to host information on new climbs in between guide book publications.
